About This Kit
This FAST Success Kit helps Grade 8 students master scatter plots and data analysis. All content is aligned to Florida B.E.S.T. Standards.
Standards Covered:
- MA.8.DP.1.1 - Given a set of data, construct a scatter plot, identify any association, and interpret the association in context
- MA.8.DP.1.2 - Given a scatter plot within a real-world context, describe patterns of association
- MA.8.DP.1.3 - Given a scatter plot with a linear association, informally fit a straight line
Key Concepts:
- Positive association: As x increases, y tends to increase
- Negative association: As x increases, y tends to decrease
- No association: No clear pattern between x and y
- Linear vs. non-linear: Does the pattern follow a straight line?
